OK, let’s break the figures down…
There are always a lot of details in the figures above but what the consumer wants is to use the phone and really enjoy it. So what do all these features stand to give the Samsung fan? Here is a breakdown of the features:
Lock Screen and AOD
What is the first thing you see when your phone is in your hand? The screen of course! Samsung realises that the screen has the power to even change your mood so it has provided a means for users to better interact with their phones right on the lock screen. It has a video lockscreen feature that enables users to play their favourite images throughout the day. Having a hairy day? Just lift that phone and get some inspiration right there on the screen. Want to convert your super slow motion videos to lock screen wallpapers? S9 and S9+ allow you to do that.
Ever tried to remember which folder you had stored your favourite apps? Yeah, no one likes that, and Samsung knows it. So, with the S9 and S9+, users can use the Edge function to store their most loved apps and contacts on the side of the Super AMOLED screen. It uses a very simple drag and drop function. Want to reply a message real quick? No worries with the Edge app as it allows you to respond swiftly in a pop-up window.
Ever tried navigating between apps and different documents while on a task? Surely a very frustrating experience. Good news is, Samsung has it figured out in the S9 and S9+. The App Pair function on these new phones launches two apps simultaneously using the multi-window mode. Worried about finding function when needed? Again, no worries there as the customised App Pair icon can be placed on the home screen. That way, users can be sure to locate and use with ease.
As funny as it may sound, smartphones may be a bit ‘slow’ in certain ways. One example is the difficulty in switching between the landscape and portrait modes after viewing multimedia content. However, in the S9 and S9+, Samsung has fixed this issue by ensuring that the phones’ home screen automatically rotates to landscape mode in order to prevent users from having to transit back to portrait to view the home screen. This seamless experience is probably one of the most outstanding features of the S9 and S9+.
Most mobile phone users worry about the personal information on their device. Access to the home screen and beyond is critical, and sometimes a lock code is insufficient. In surmounting this challenge, Samsung has introduced the Dedicated Fingerprint function. By using this function, the user will be able to register two fingerprints; the regular fingerprint and a second (dedicated) one. The first one provides access to the home screen while the second one can unlock the secure folder right from the home screen.
Okay, having given you the skinny on some of the most popular features, there are still a few titbits left to mention. Of course, this may be titbits but a full course meal for some other brands.
i.Storage Capacity: Users will be able to expand the storage capacity to an amazing 400GB using a microSD card. Now, that’s a lot of space for a phone. You can almost park an aeroplane in there!
ii.Operating System: Of course, both phones use the current version of the Android OS; Oreo. This is to be expected as it will maximise their performance and provide the excellent user experience.
All in all, the S9 and S9+ are top of the range phones that will position Samsung once again at the top of the market. While other brands are still in the market, Samsung may be inching ahead of them all.
