5 Tips to Protect Your Mobile Phone Screen

5 Tips to Protect Your Mobile Phone Screen

When you realise you’ve dropped your smartphone, the panic is nothing compared to the feeling of dread you experience when you realise your display was smashed or cracked. With most of us being so attached to our mobile device, it can feel like we’re missing a limb when we’re without it. That being said, it’s definitely safe to assume that reducing the risk of mobile phone repairs due to a damaged screen would be quite high on mobile user’s list.

Try One of These 5 Simple Tips to Protect Your Mobile Phone Screen

  1. Buy a Mobile Phone Case

Buying a case sounds simple, but the problem is, you either like cases or you hate them. While it’s nice to look at your sparkly new Rose-colored iPhone 6, using it without a good case could cost you your new iPhone pretty fast. You can find some simple cases without breaking the bank, and ones that provide a basic amount of protection in case of an unexpected drop. You can also find cases that will protect your phone from water damage, which is highly recommended.

  1. Learn to Store Your Phone Properly

Treat your mobile device with the respect it deserves. When you’re not using your cell phone, don’t keep it in your pocket, in the same pocket as your keys, or in a place it can easily get knocked around. Put it somewhere safe so you don’t increase the chances of it getting smashed or broken.

  1. Keep Your Mobile Far Away from Water and Wet Surfaces

Water and mobile phones do not mix well together and even a quick dip in the sink, the pool or a toilet bowl could end your phone’s life fairly quickly. Be mindful of where you use your phone. Do not leave your mobile in your back pocket when you use the bathroom because you may flip it out of your pocket and drop it in the water.

  1. Buy a Screen Protector

Once upon a time looking through a display guard at your screen was like looking at the viewpoint on a high speed train whose windows hadn’t been cleaned in a month. Now, you can buy screen protectors that provide great protection without jeopardizing your phone’s performance and look.

  1. Consider Buying Insurance

If you are generally hard on your phone, you may want to consider getting phone insurance. Take the time to understand the terms and conditions before buying though since some plans have restrictions on damage and what their plan will actually cover.

5 Surprising Facts About Mobile Phone Repairs

  1. Apple sold around 51.2 million iPhones last quarter. At the beginning of April 2016, Apple announced its financial statistics for Q2 of 2016. Although the smartphone titan is reporting a decline in sales for the first time in 13 years, that’s still a healthy trade! Considering that, on avearge, ⅓ of iPhone owners report living with cracked screens, or other minor cosmetic damages, that’s a staggering 17 million new handsets, every three months, to be kept in perfect working order.
  2. The two most common smartphone activities are texting and taking photos. While it may be called a “smartphone”, that’s really just the tip of the iceberg of what these wunder-devices are capable of. Heck, many of us barely use the speech capabilities of our phones at all, except to order a pizza when there’s no emoji delivery. That means having our screens in pristine condition is even more important than ever. Not only are cracked screens an eyesore, they can even prove a health risk, via cut fingers, and that’s not even mentioning the restricted activities or the risk to our phone’s data.
  3. 12% of iPhones are damaged by spilled beer. Water damage is one of the most common causes for mobile phone repair. That’s water, specifically. In fact, only 1 out of 8 mobile phones are damaged due to drinking-related accidents!
  4. The second most common cause of liquid damage is spilled soda. Although spilled water is the leading cause of liquid damage, soda follows closely behind. The sticky, sugary liquid is even more of a nightmare to repair than regular old Hydrogen Hydroxide, so keep those handsets away from your Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb!
  5. If you can make it through you’re first year, you’re golden. Roughly 10% of iPhone, iPad, and Samsung Galaxy owners damage their device within a year of getting it. Sometimes, tragicallly, it can happen within weeks of purchasing our brand new, high-tech device.

Frustration Mounts Over iPhone 6 Error 53 Messages

iPhone 6 repairs MelbourneiPhone 6 repairs are tricky at the best of times, with proprietary software and components from Apple, as well as being small and difficult to get beneath the hood.

Apple is trying to make it impossible for third parties to work on their products, causing a great storm of upset and unrest from dedicated iPhone users around the globe, who are receiving a cryptic and ominous warning: the Error 53 message.

What Is The Error 53 Message?

Not that many people, outside of tech enthusiasts, are aware of the ‘Error 53’ message. This doesn’t change the seriousness of the message, however, which could kill your phone, according to tech journalists.

Error 53 appears to mostly impact handsets where the home button, which features built-in touch ID fingerprint recognition, has been repaired by an unofficial mobile phone repair company. Error 53 has also been reported as affecting customers who have been living with damaged phones.

Error 53 only becomes an issue with an update to iOS 9, even if the phone was repaired months before the upgrade.

Imagine the shock of simply updating your iOS, only to have your phone rendered useless, as precious data and irreplaceable memories – like your music, pictures, movies, and books – are rendered irretrievable.

Representatives from Apple have claimed to be aware of the Error 53 message, and the problems it causes, but have done nothing to address the issue.

It’s no wonder Apple users are so incensed!

According to an Apple spokeswoman, speaking on the reasoning behind Error 53, “We protect fingerprint data using a secure enclave, which is uniquely paired to the touch ID sensor. When iPhone is serviced by an authorised Apple service provider or Apple retail store for changes that affect the touch ID sensor, the pairing is re-validated. This check ensures the device and the iOS features related to touch ID remain secure. Without this unique pairing, a malicious touch ID sensor could be substituted, thereby gaining access to the secure enclave. When iOS detects that the pairing fails, touch ID, including Apple Pay, is disabled so the device remains secure.”

She then when went on to say “When an iPhone is serviced by an unauthorised repair provider, faulty screens or other invalid components that affect the touch ID sensor could cause the check to fail if the pairing cannot be validated. With a subsequent update or restore, additional security checks result in an ‘error 53’ being displayed … If a customer encounters an unrecoverable error 53, we recommend contacting Apple support.”

Seemingly, this is only an issue for iPhone 6’s running iOS 9. Running an older iOS, and need an iPhone 6 repair in Melbourne? Or minor, superficial repairs, like a screen repair? Contact us today! We repair most common problems, while you wait, using original manufacturer parts.

A Shortage Of Raw Materials Could Drive Up The Cost Of iPhone 5 Repairs

iPhone 5 repair MelbourneMany iPhone 5 owners have been watching with growing concern, as the cost of iPhone 5/5C/5S LCD assemblies have continued to skyrocket.

This was originally anticipated as being a short-term situation, the shortage of LCD assemblies has continued, causing great concern for those looking for iPhone 5 repairs.

What’s Causing The Shortages?

Factories are having a hard time keeping up with the demand for iPhone 5 LCD assemblies, due to an increasingly difficult time procuring certain raw materials.

Some Raw Materials Found In An iPhone 5 (Some Might Surprise You):

  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Aluminium
  • Copper
  • Gadolinium
  • Europium
  • Yttrium
  • Lanthanum
  • Dysprosium

In fact, there is 324 times more precious minerals in one ton of iPhone 5’s than in a ton of ore from the Yanacocha Complex, the largest gold deposit in the world in Peru. There’s also 6.5 times as much silver in a ton of iPhone 5’s than a ton of ore from the Cannington Silver Mine.

It might make you wonder if it would be more worthwhile to recycle your iPhone 5, considering its interiors read off like some demented prospector’s fever dream, but we know your iPhone 5 is worth 10 times as much, to you, as it would for a gold digger.

After all, you’ve been through a lot together, and there are certain irreplaceable things on that phone that money just can’t buy. Don’t let the shortage deter you – our repair experts are standing by to help you!

Sources haven’t been forthcoming on which materials they’re running low on, but it’s having a big impact on the price of iPhone 5 repairs in Melbourne, and all over the world.

Should We Abandon Hope?

Not at all! These kind of shortages are actually rather common. Factories run short on raw materials and components in a similar fashion when a new model of iPhone comes out, causing a similar level of panic (and a similar rise in repair costs).

A lot of repair shops take advantage of people in need of iPhone 5 repairs. We would never! We value our customers too much.

We can typically repair an iPhone 5 in 24 hours, or less, even in times of shortage. We’ve had time to compile all the most common parts, for times like those, so if you need an LCD, a new battery, or an iPhone 5 screen repair in Melbourne, we’ve got you covered.
